A placeholder is always booked directly with Disney Cruise Line. It stays on your Disney account until you select a specific sailing. After Disney creates the official reservation, you can transfer it to Costco Travel. This step allows you to keep Disney’s discount while still receiving Costco’s incentives.
One important detail is the timing. You must transfer the placeholder within thirty days of purchase. When you turn the placeholder into an actual booking, you are not starting a new thirty day window. The clock began the day you bought the placeholder onboard. This means if you purchased a placeholder three weeks ago and then convert it today, you only have about a week left to complete the transfer. Once the reservation is transferred, Costco Travel becomes your main point of contact for payments, updates, and questions.
