Booking Guarantee, or GTY, staterooms can be a great way to save money on a Disney Cruise. With a GTY booking, you are guaranteed the category you selected, or possibly an upgrade, but your exact stateroom number is assigned closer to the sailing date. Sometimes that means a pleasant surprise upgrade, and other times it means you get exactly what you booked.
When it comes to booking two GTY rooms together, many people hope they will be assigned adjoining or connecting cabins. Anecdotally, a lot of cruisers report on Reddit and in Facebook sailing groups that their GTY rooms did end up being connecting. Disney does seem to make an effort to keep linked reservations close when possible.
However, there is no guarantee that two GTY rooms will be adjoining. The nature of a GTY booking means Disney is filling in remaining inventory, and placement depends entirely on what is available at the time assignments are made. Even if reservations are linked, you could end up with cabins on the same deck but not next door, or in different areas of the ship.
If having adjoining or connecting rooms is important for your trip, a GTY booking carries some risk. In that case, choosing specific staterooms at the time of booking is the only way to be sure. If flexibility matters more than exact placement, GTY rooms can still be a solid value, just with the understanding that proximity is a possibility, not a promise.
