Yes, unlike many other cruise lines, soda is mostly free on Disney Cruise Line. This is one of the nice little perks that surprises first time cruisers, especially if you have sailed on lines where even basic soft drinks require a package.
You will find self serve fountain soda dispensers on the pool deck, usually near the quick service food locations. These are available throughout the day, and you can refill as often as you like. Soda is also included in the main dining rooms during dinner, so ordering a Coke or Sprite with your meal does not cost extra.
That said, soda is not free everywhere on the ship. If you order a soft drink at a bar, in the theater, or through room service, you will be charged just like you would for any other beverage. Many guests avoid this simply by grabbing their soda from the pool deck stations instead.
It is also worth noting that only fountain soda is included. Canned soft drinks, including specialty options like root beer, are not free and will come with an additional charge.
