What Do Kids Do at Edge on Disney Cruises?

Edge is Disney Cruise Line’s tween club, designed for kids ages 11 to 14, and it works a little differently than the younger kids clubs. Think of Edge, and Vibe for teens, more as social meet up spaces than tightly scheduled activity rooms. Because kids in these age groups do not need constant supervision in one secured space, many of the activities happen all over the ship rather than only inside the club itself.

One of the biggest tips for having a great Edge experience is making sure your kids attend the first night events. The “get to know you” and ice breaker activities are where friendships form quickly. Many families who say their kids loved Edge also say that the first night made all the difference in how comfortable their kids felt for the rest of the cruise.

On some ships, especially the Disney Magic, Edge activities can be surprisingly fun and creative. Favorite activities often include late night games like Chip It golf in the atrium after most of the ship is asleep, as well as events like Invade Vibe or Invade Oceaneer Club. On some sailings, kids even participate in flash mobs on Pirate Night, which becomes a highlight of the cruise for many tweens.

Enjoyment of Edge really depends on what the kids choose to make of it. Because there is more freedom, some kids jump right in and attend multiple activities each day, while others prefer to drop in only occasionally.

At Edge, kids are encouraged to move around the ship together for things like scavenger hunts, special tween only access to attractions such as the AquaDuck, or group games like four square. Inside the Edge space, kids can play video games, hang out, and check the activity board that lists what is happening throughout the day. For tweens who are ready for a bit of independence while still being part of a supervised program, Edge often ends up being one of the most memorable parts of a Disney cruise.
