Disney Cruise Line allows guests to prepay gratuities before sailing, which makes budgeting and planning a bit easier. These prepaid gratuities are distributed among your stateroom host or hostess along with your dining team, including the head server, server and assistant server who take care of you throughout your cruise.
However, prepaid gratuities do not cover drinks from bars, lounges or coffee locations. If you order a cocktail, specialty coffee or any other beverage, those tips are handled separately from your prepaid amount.
An automatic 18% gratuity is already added to bar tabs and specialty drink purchases. This means you are already tipping for each drink without needing to do anything extra. The charge will appear directly on your onboard account when you sign for your beverage.
You can always choose to tip more if you would like. Some guests feel that adding an extra dollar or two can help when bars are busy, though this is more of a personal preference than a requirement. In most cases, the automatic gratuity is more than sufficient and there is no obligation to add anything additional.
